What Can I Do If My Light Fixture Base is Too Small for the Ceiling Hole?

Hey everyone! I recently bought some circular light fixtures from Etsy, but I've hit a bit of a snag. The bases of these fixtures are about 1-2cm smaller than the holes in my ceiling. I'm curious if there's a way to make this work. Is there a plate or something I can buy to cover the holes before attaching the lights? Any suggestions would be super helpful. Thanks a lot!

Honestly, returning the lights and getting ones that fit better might save you a lot of trouble. It could be easier than trying to patch things up—especially if you love the ceiling look!

Alternatively, you could just patch up the drywall hole and make a smaller one for the new lights. It’s a bit of extra work but might be the most straightforward solution!

Make sure your lights are CSA/UL approved before proceeding! If they are, then you could use ceiling trim adapters. If not, definitely consider returning them and finding safer options!

You might want to check out ceiling medallions! They’re perfect for covering up larger holes while adding a touch of style to your room. Plus, they come in various materials like polyurethane, so you can paint them to match your decor. It’s a great way to class things up!

Totally agree! They can really enhance the look and make everything feel more finished. Just be sure to get the right size for your fixtures!
