What Can I Do to Keep Paper Wasps Away from My Cedar Garden Bed?

I'm having a tough time with aggressive paper wasps attacking my untreated cedar-raised garden bed. While cedar is supposed to be rot and bug resistant, it seems wasn't built to withstand these wasps! They've barely damaged it yet, but I suspect they're close to building a nest nearby. I need some advice on how to deter them—ideally, I'm looking for something that's food-safe and won't harm my vegetables or herbs. I've already ordered bifenthrin after a suggestion, but I'm worried about the toxicity. Any tips would be appreciated!

I can totally relate to your worries about wasps! When I get them, I usually just stick to using traps and occasionally spray them with a diluted soap solution—it's safer for nearby plants. Just make sure to spray when they're less active, usually early morning or late evening, to avoid any stings. Good luck with your garden!

Crazy as it sounds, wasps can definitely be a pain even on cedar! One option is to set up some traps specifically designed for them. I found some great ones at hardware stores, and they work pretty well without releasing harmful chemicals. You might also consider making a fake wasp nest or placing a realistic dragonfly decoration nearby. Wasps are territorial, so they might just think twice about getting too close. Just be careful not to attract other pollinators!

I've tried those traps before, but they sometimes seem to draw the wasps in rather than keep them away. It's like they know where the food is!
