I'm renting an old washer that works fine but isn't level, causing it to shake around. The feet seem frozen or rusted, and my landlord isn't likely to help fix it. I've tried WD-40 without success. I've been using wooden shims to level it, but they splinter after a couple of loads, and I need to secure them somehow to prevent the washer from falling off. The front foot only needs to go up about 1cm. Any ideas?

You could try composite shims (the kind made of plastic) that won’t splinter and could be glued into place. Additionally, applying some PB Blaster or a similar rust remover might help loosen those frozen feet so you can adjust them better.
I’d recommend using rubber toilet wobble wedge shims. They’re great for absorbing vibrations and should hold up better than wood. Plus, they’ll help keep the washer steady over time.

Good idea! I’ll have to look into the rust remover. I just need to be careful due to the fumes in my laundry room.
