What Can I Do with My Extra Solar Energy?

I've got an Ecoflow Delta 2 that connects to three 250W solar panels, which primarily powers my window AC. The weather's been mild lately, so I've had no need to run the AC, leaving me with a fully charged Ecoflow but unused solar energy. I'm wondering what creative ways I could use this excess power. Just to give you more context: I live in a two-story townhouse, individually owned, and the electrical system isn't configured for solar or generator input. My solar panels are ground-mounted due to a large tree in the front yard, and the Ecoflow is placed 30 feet away indoors, which complicates connections to the garage's electrical panel. I've thought about powering a refrigerator, internet router, microwave, coffee maker, or TV. Any suggestions?

You could also consider using the energy to charge power tool batteries or run box fans, which might be more useful everyday than just waiting for AC needs.

Totally! Also, think about using it for your internet router to keep your online activities running smoothly.

How about turning on a space heater? It might sound counterintuitive, but if your AC isn't running, you can still utilize that power to heat up a room!

Haha, I’d rather bake cookies in the oven and let the AC balance it out!

I love that plan, but are you sure you want to heat up your home instead?

One idea is to reroute power to your hot water system. Run it during the day to take advantage of your solar output. Many folks do this to reduce peak demand and save energy costs. You can also check if there are any household appliances that typically run at night that can be switched to daytime use, making sure your stored energy is used for important needs at night.

Exactly! New Zealand has systems like the Paladin that let you use excess solar to heat water and avoid selling power back to the grid for a low rate.

That’s a smart idea! Water heaters usually consume a lot of power, so shifting their usage can help a lot.
