I live in a mountain area in northern Spain, and after a recent tree removal (which I didn't support), I'm now left with about 10 tree stumps from cut down *Quercus robur* and *Castanea sativa*. I'm looking for ideas on how to utilize these stumps in a way that can increase local biodiversity. Is there any method I can use to speed up decomposition or make them useful for wildlife? I'd love to turn a negative into something beneficial, so any suggestions would be really appreciated!

One great idea is to add nesting boxes for birds on or near the stumps. You can also drill holes of about 3 to 15 mm wide that are 15 cm deep to attract mason bees, which could help enhance the area. Even if you don't have those specific measurements in Spain, local bees might benefit from something similar! Remember, leaving stumps as they are, known as 'snags,' can also attract lots of insects that birds and other wildlife love to eat.
