Hey everyone! I'm a total newbie to gardening and I'm looking to get started this year. I know it might be getting late in the season, but I'm eager to know what I can still plant outdoors and in my greenhouse. My greenhouse is about 8ft by 16ft, and I also have a decent amount of garden space outside. I'd really appreciate any recommendations, and if you could share as much info as possible, that would be great! But no worries if you're short on time, I can always do a little research myself. I'm just looking forward to having some conversations about it! Also, I'm based in South Shields, UK.

There's plenty you can still grow! Check out your local garden center, like B&Q, and see what's available. The plants they have are typically suitable for this time of year. Shopping in person gives you a chance to inspect the plants firsthand, so you can pick the healthiest ones to plant in your garden or greenhouse.
Your greenhouse sounds awesome! Don't stress too much about the rules; gardening is about having fun. I've tried my hand at planting Brussels sprouts, sweet corn, and courgettes lately, and I say just go for the veggies you enjoy. You could also consider planting flowers like dahlias and poppies—there's so much you can do! If you’re looking for inspo, check out some gardening accounts on Instagram for ideas.
I highly recommend checking out RHS's gardening books—they're super helpful for knowing what's in season. For vegetables, I've recently sown ideas like salad leaves, peas, beans, corn, and carrots outside, while in the greenhouse, tomatoes and basil are great choices. However, it's a bit late for chillies since they take a long time to grow. You might also want to scout for plug plants at your local garden center to give you a jump start!
