What Can I Plant in July After Losing My Plants?

I just got back from holiday and found my plants in a sad state! I'm left with a few small pots and two larger pots (one was a sunflower). Is there anything I can still plant now that could flower this year? I've trimmed the dead parts off the sunflower as the stalk still looks healthy, so I'm hopeful! Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Yeah, it's definitely a good idea to opt for plug plants at this point. They help you get some quick results and don’t take as long as starting from seeds!

It sounds like you might be looking at plug plants this late in the season. I had some cosmos that didn't thrive, so I snagged some ready-to-go plugs last week. They really do make a difference! They're more established and should give you flowers sooner than seeds. You can usually find them at garden centers for a decent price. Also, calendula is a good option since it grows fast!

I found some plugs last weekend for just £1.75 for a pack of 4 or 6. Super affordable and they fill out the pots nicely!

It could be a bit late for seeding any kind of flower, especially sunflowers, as they might not flower well now. If you still have the pots, I'd recommend going for larger plug plants to get more blooms before the season ends! Marigolds are also a great fast-growing option that could work well for you.
