Hey everyone! I'm new to gardening and I've got some space left in my vegetable garden that I just started this year. I've got around four spots, and I might have four more if my zucchini seeds don't sprout. I've been trying to find out what else I can plant this late in the season, but I'm mostly just getting confusing results. I heard it might be too late for seeds and that I need to use starters instead, but I'm hoping there are still some options!

You still have plenty of options! Since we had a recent cold spell, you can definitely plant seeds for green beans, carrots, cucumbers, and some greens like lettuce and kale. Many of these can handle warmer temperatures, even if they’re usually planted earlier in the season. Just remember, slower-growing plants like tomatoes and peppers need to be started as seedlings, but there's still time for fast-growing varieties!

Thanks for the tip! So my zucchini that I planted directly a few weeks ago—do they still have a chance? Should I cover them up or leave them be? And about planting lettuce and carrots, I can just throw those in the ground as seeds anytime, right?
