Hey everyone! I'm looking for advice on how to spruce up my front garden. I have wooden fence panels on either side, but the front features a short brick wall topped with some metal fencing, which I find really unattractive. I'm hoping to find some climbing plants that can cover the brick wall and intertwine with the metal bars to create a sort of faux hedge. If they could be evergreen and friendly for wildlife, that would be a huge plus! I was initially considering Ivy, but I've seen mixed opinions about that. Any suggestions? Thanks!

You might want to consider using an evergreen variety of Clematis, like Clematis cirrhosa or Clematis armandii. They can easily climb the wall, but you might need to add some trellis for support. Honeysuckle and Wisteria are also fantastic climbers, but I’m not sure if there are any evergreen varieties of those.
Would either of the Clematis damage the wall once they're established?
If you're looking for something quick and green, you can't go wrong with Ivy. It grows fast and will cover just about anything! Just keep in mind that it's quite popular, but there are mixed feelings about it in the gardening community.
I do love Ivy! But after seeing some strong opinions against it, I'm second-guessing my choice.

They're so pretty, I definitely want to add them. Should I keep them in pots or plant them directly in the ground near the wall?
