Hey everyone! I have a hickory board that's 103 inches long, 10 inches wide, and 0.8 inches thick. I'm trying to figure out what I could build with it. Any ideas?

You could craft a longbow! Hickory is great for bows as long as the wood grain is clean and knot-free. Just take your time with it.

Honestly, working with hickory can be a real pain. It's super hard, even harder than oak! I’ve burned through a few tools. The sawdust feels like tiny glass shards. I tried making coat hooks with mine, but it was a struggle. My tools just weren't equipped for it, and sanding was a nightmare. I ended up using a belt sander just to get it smooth! Not sure I'd go for it again. LOL

I feel you! I just grabbed a hickory board to see what the fuss was about. It was crazy tough to work with—way worse than I expected! I aimed for something simple but ended up with a lot of frustration. I'll think twice before tackling hickory again!

A lot of people recommend making tool handles or even paddles! Just a heads up though, cutting and sanding hickory isn't easy—it can be pretty tough work.
