Hi everyone! I hope your summer is going well and you're all making great projects. I don't usually post here, but I could really use some advice about a strange issue we've found. Recently, my friend who lives upstairs spotted a hole in the back wall of our outdoor garage. Just for context, there's no dirt around the hole, and my dog doesn't seem interested in it, which makes me think it might not be from an animal. However, I did find some rat droppings inside the garage, but not near the hole itself. I'm pretty puzzled about what might be causing this and would love some guidance on what type of contractor I should consider hiring. I've included some pictures for reference. We live in Chicago, so any local expertise would be great! Thanks for your help!

Sounds like it could be a chipmunk. If you really want to find out what’s going on, maybe set up a cheap trail camera to catch the culprit in action. But since you’re in downtown Chicago, don't discount the chance of it being a rat—they're everywhere!
Or it could be a tiger! ? Just kidding. But really, knowing how wildlife can be in cities, keep an eye out. Definitely let your neighbors know if it turns out to be more than just a small rodent.
Better warn the other folks around! You never know what could be lurking in the urban jungle! ?

Thanks for your response! If it is a chipmunk, do you have any humane tips for removal? And yeah, you're probably right about the rats in the city – very likely!
