Hey everyone! I've recently noticed a weird water ring forming around my front entry light fixture, and it's got me puzzled. We had the roof replaced last fall, and this is the first time I'm seeing something like this. Here are some details that might help us figure it out:
- **Weather:** It's been really cold (between 2°F and -15°F at night) lately.
- **Snow & Humidity:** There's been snow on the roof for a couple of weeks, and the indoor humidity is pretty low (20-30%).
- **Roof Details:** The fixture is located near the top of a roof valley and there are no plumbing lines, HVAC, or gutters right above it. The water ring is very round and localized around the light fixture, only showing there and not anywhere else.
I circled a spot in the provided photo that might be relevant. Could this be due to condensation, insulation issues, or something related to the roof? Thanks for any insights!

Wow, what a weird situation! Those freezing temps plus the snow could definitely lead to some strange issues like this. Your description of a perfectly round water ring makes me think it could be condensation building up from warm air hitting the really cold surface. It’s good that you're on top of it and reached out to the roofer!
Definitely sounds like a water issue! It's hard to imagine where the water is coming from, but that's the mystery we need to solve. It could potentially be an indication of something going on with your roof, especially since you're noticing this now after a roof replacement. Ice jams could also play a role if there’s been melting and refreezing. Keep an eye on it, and let's hope your roofer has some answers!
I totally agree! It’s super strange that it only appeared now, especially since you've had it for a while without leaks. Maybe the flashing wasn’t done right or there’s some hidden damage we’re not seeing!? Fingers crossed for a quick fix!

Crazy how random things like this pop up, isn’t it? Sending you good vibes that your roofer will sort this out soon! Getting a light fixture off during winter sounds like a tricky job too. Good luck!
