What Could Be Causing This Odd Sound From My Kitchen Pipes?

I've been hearing a strange sound coming from my kitchen sink intermittently throughout the day. I live in a three-story townhouse, and my kitchen is on the second floor. This noise used to occur mostly during the evening and night, but now I'm occasionally hearing it during the day too. It's random when it stops. I asked a chatbot about it, and it suggested there might be a clog somewhere, but the water pressure seems fine. Can anyone help me figure out what this noise could be and how to fix it? Thanks!

It sounds like it might be related to public works cleaning the sewers in your area. This noise often resembles what you’re talking about and usually lasts only for a few minutes. It's quite common for cities to do this once or twice a year, so that could explain the odd timing. Just a thought!

It's been going on for a week for me, though. Sometimes it's at night, and sometimes during the day, so I'm wondering if the sewer cleaning could take that long? Any insight?

I’ve experienced similar sounds when my water softener regenerates. It could be water rushing through your plumbing. Maybe check with your neighbors to see if they have noticed it too. When you mention it happens, what times are we talking about? And did this start recently?

Yeah, I have a water softener, but I've never heard this sound before. It started about a week ago and usually happens around 8-9 PM, lasting about 10-20 minutes. I’ll definitely ask the neighbors!
