I'm mounting a TV on an exterior wall and I keep hitting something that feels like cement. After opening an outlet, I discovered a grey and brownish material behind it. Does anyone know what this material could be? Also, I'm having trouble finding studs in the wall. Could this grey rock-like stuff mean there are fewer studs available? I’m not sure what that material is, but you might want to check the exterior appearance of your house. In my case, I have plaster over brick, and I've used brick screws to mount stuff on those walls without issues. Maybe it’s similar?
Yeah, it looks like there's plaster on the outside. Just not sure what's beneath it.
