We just moved into our first house and came across a switch that we can't figure out. We do have a central vacuum system that's operational without this switch being on, which makes it even more puzzling. Since our home was built in the early '80s, I'm wondering what this switch might control. Any insights would be really helpful! Here's a picture of it: [https://imgur.com/a/cVycvyE](https://imgur.com/a/cVycvyE)

It’s possible that's for a low voltage application, like a doorbell or maybe even sprinklers. If you haven't already, try removing the plate to check the wiring behind it. Be curious!
This looks like it could be a photocell switch. They’re often used for things like night lights or outdoor lights that turn on at dusk. Have you noticed if it seems to respond to light?

I haven't checked yet, but I did notice there are three similar switches in the house.
