What Could This Old Jack Be in My 1928 House?

I recently discovered what looks like an old house jack partially buried next to my home, where the old AC unit used to be. My house is a Victorian style built in 1928, and I'm curious if anyone has any idea what this might be or its purpose.

I love the mystery of old houses! But to be honest, it's pretty common for people to find those old doorbell transformers buried. Since they were installed way back, it makes sense to find them in places like that. What do you think?

That’s a good point, but I'm leaning more towards it being a jack since it seems sturdy and intended for support.

That jack could be a foundation support! When I lived in a similar vintage house, we had to use jacks to lift up the floors every so often to keep things level. Sounds like it was used for maintenance on those older structures!
