What Do I Need to Build My Own Portable Solar Power System?

Hey everyone! I'm just a regular guy with a bit of a dream and a small workshop. I've been diving into videos and reading a lot about creating portable solar systems, and I'm looking for advice from those who have experience with building their own setups. What materials should I gather to put together a system similar to a portable "Jackery"? Also, are there any materials I should definitely avoid? Any helpful links or resources would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I get where you’re coming from! I came across a local seller with a 300W system, but I’d also recommend considering something larger, like 3000W, especially if you plan on using it for more demanding applications. Always good to plan for those extra power needs!

You’ll want to get your hands on some solar panels, a charge controller, a battery, and an inverter. The size of your system really depends on your needs; think about how large you want it to be! If you're considering building a battery pack, a Battery Management System (BMS) is a must to protect against overcharging and discharging. Plus, always aim to buy a bit more capacity than you think you’ll need so you’re covered on less sunny days.

There are tons of great DIY videos out there. Many folks use milk crates or dollies to create portable power units. For instance, you can check out this video [here](https://youtu.be/fdeZz4QvxG0?si=YdZ2tZeDs7esh4-F). It gives a great breakdown of the setup process!
