I'm curious about what people in urban areas typically plant in their gardens. What kinds of herbs, vegetables, or flowers do you enjoy growing?

I used to plant a ton of veggies, but as I’ve aged, managing so many types became tough. Now I keep it simpler with just tomatoes, peppers, and some flowers, and honestly, my garden feels way happier this way! ?
I usually kick off the season with shell, snow, and snap peas, then add carrots, beets, and radishes. After that, I throw in pole and bush beans, tons of tomatoes, eggplants, and peppers. The tomatillos and ground cherries seem to reseed themselves each year. I also have lemon, peach, lime, and fig trees. And I can't forget the herbs—I've got bay laurel, plus some catnip and catgrass for my three kitties!
Some years, I focus on salsa gardens, growing everything I need to make a killer salsa. Normally, I stick with eggplant, tomatoes, garlic, and a mix of peppers—this year I'm also trying broccoli and okra!
I’m in the Pacific Northwest, and I love growing herbs like rosemary, lavender, oregano, and sage. I also grow a variety of fruits and veggies, including beans, peas, berries, apples, cucumbers, zucchini, and tomatoes. I might not be very consistent with corn, but I also plant kale, lettuce, celery, broccoli, cauliflower, cilantro, and parsley. Recently, I've been exploring medicinal plants too, with yarrow being one of my favorites. I let some useful weeds like plantain and miner's lettuce grow as well!
That’s awesome! I don’t have rosemary at home, but I used to enjoy dried rosemary tea from the market.

I hear you! Currently, I’m in an urban area with no access to my main garden space, so I've been experimenting with hydroponics instead. You can basically grow anything that way!
