What Does ‘Cut Back Hard’ Mean for Salvia Cardonna?

I've read that for salvia cardonna, we should 'cut back hard' in July. Can someone explain what that means exactly? Should I be cutting it all the way down to the ground? Also, if I do this now in the UK, will the plant grow back during July and August, or is this advice intended more for warmer climates? Thanks!

Hey! When they say 'cut back hard', they usually mean to trim it back significantly, but not necessarily to the ground. Cutting it down to about 10cm is pretty common if yours were over 3ft tall, like mine used to be. This helps the plant stay manageable and prevents it from overshadowing others. It should regrow well through July and August, even in the UK!

Every year mine flop all over the place too! I think my soil might be too nutrient-rich. I always forget to add supports in spring until it's too late!

Will it flower again this year if I do that?
