What Edge Profile Should I Use for My Coffee Table Legs?

Hey everyone! I'm working on crafting new legs for my old coffee table, but I've hit a snag. I'm trying to identify the edge profile I'm aiming for. It's not quite a roundover and definitely doesn't look like a chamfer either. Is there such a thing as a rounded chamfer?

Right now, my best guess is to go with a chamfer and then try to soften the edges by sanding them down. It's a bit frustrating! Does anyone know if there's a standard profile for this? Also, is there a specific router bit that could help me achieve a look that's close to what I'm after? Thanks a ton for your help!

Hey! It sounds like what you're describing could be something like a "bevel" edge, which is a bit like a chamfer but rounder on the corners. Definitely check out some bits that are labeled for creating bevels, they might give you the rounded look you're after. If not, your idea to soften it with sanding is a good backup!

Thanks for the tip! I’ll look into bevel bits and see if I can achieve that look.

I think what you’re looking for might actually be a 'radius' or 'quarter round' edge. It gives a nice soft look but is a bit different from both roundovers and chamfers. You can find router bits specifically for that too. Good luck with the project!
