What Essential Power Tools Should I Buy for My First Garage Setup?

I'm starting my own garage setup and want to know which power tools are essential for doing tasks like brake work and light engine repairs myself. I've mainly heard good things about Milwaukee tools, but I'm also curious if Makita is a good option for this kind of work. What tools do you recommend for beginners?

If you're looking for a well-rounded setup, the M12 lineup is great as it keeps you on one battery platform. A drill/driver kit, stubby impact wrench, and some other M12 tools like die grinders and lighting solutions can cover a range of needs. You could also consider the M18 drill/driver kit for a little more power.

If you're eyeing the M12 tools, the 550ft/lb Stubby impact wrench is a fantastic choice. Mid torque options in M18 might be worth exploring too. I’d advise against high torque unless you really think you'll need it. The M12 electric ratchets are a bit of a luxury, but they're incredibly handy. Pair the Stubby with a good impact socket set, and you’ll be equipped for 95% of tasks!

Thanks for the info! Do you have any recommendations for specific impact socket sets, or will any brand work?
