What Fall Maintenance Tasks Do You Always Do Before Winter?

Hey everyone! As a new homeowner, I'm really trying to stay on top of my fall maintenance tasks this year. Last year, I skipped gutter cleaning and regretted it big time! So far, I've been keeping a checklist and here's what I've got:

- Clean the gutters (obviously!)
- Shut off and drain outdoor spigots
- Change the furnace filters
- Vacuum out furnace vents
- Test smoke and CO detectors
- Keep track of my rake (ha!)
- Trim my plants
- Winterize the gas in my mower and weed whacker at the end of fall.

What other tasks should I add to my list to ensure everything's ready for winter? Would love to hear your go-to maintenance routines!

I'm all about cleaning those dryer vents! It's super important. Plus, don't forget to turn up your thermostat now to check if your heating system is working properly before the cold really sets in. Better safe than sorry!

But if I don’t get that campfire smell in my house, what’s the point? ?

Your list looks great! I usually make a checklist and stick it up on my board as the leaves change. One thing I also do is check my Christmas outlets to make sure they're in good shape before the snow hits. It saves me from rushing later!

Lol, I get that vibe! I skipped putting up lights last year because life was hectic, but it would totally surprise my partner if I got them all ready ahead of time.

I like to fertilize and overseed my lawn in the fall. Also, don’t forget to put away your patio furniture and winterize the camper if you have one. Oh, and remember to dig out the snow shovels!
