What Finish Should I Use for a Wooden Kitchen Island Top?

Hey everyone! I'm planning to add a mobile island to my kitchen that will have a wooden tabletop. Since it will be a surface for food prep, it needs to be durable, food safe, and easy to clean. I'm considering options like water-based poly or epoxy, but I'm open to suggestions. Any thoughts?

I recommend Osmo TopOil for your project. It's perfect for kitchen tops because it's easy to apply, looks great, and is food safe. Just a heads up, the drying time can take a couple of weeks to fully cure. You’ll want to give it a few days to set before using it heavily, but it’s totally worth it!

Awesome, I’ll definitely look into that! Thanks!

If you're going to be cutting on it, I'd suggest sticking with just mineral oil. But if it's mainly for regular kitchen tasks, you might want to check out Arm-r-seal from General Finishes. It's pricey, but super durable! I used it on my kitchen desk, and it's held up great over time!

Thanks for the suggestion! We try to use cutting boards, but with kids, who knows what might happen! I'm looking for something that can withstand those occasional accidents.
