Hey everyone! I've recently picked up plants as a new hobby, and I'm absolutely loving the journey! I'm curious, how did you all get into plants? Did you choose them based on their looks, symbolism, or something else entirely? What influences your decisions when adding to your collection?

For me, it's all about the aesthetics and care requirements. I try to stick with low-maintenance plants because I know I can easily forget to take care of ones that need constant attention. If it’s a plant that just needs a little water every few weeks, I’m all in! Bonus points if it can signal to me when it's thirsty so I don't have to micromanage it! ?
Growing up, my family always had houseplants, mostly common ones like pothos and peace lilies. My mom started her collection by propping and trading, which made me fall in love with them too. It’s a nostalgic connection for me!
I got into plants after heart surgery as a way to bring some of the outdoors inside while I healed. Now, two years later, I’ve become quite the plant parent! I started with a few and now I have around 20-30! My favorite currently is the radermachera sinica, which has been growing like a weed!

My plant journey began on January 20, 2024, when I bought a satin pothos. I was bored with life and wanted something new to nurture. I started with just one and now I’ve got about 35 houseplants! I focused on low-maintenance varieties because I'm a lazy gardener, and they fit perfectly into my lifestyle. I really pamper my plants now!
