What Happens If I Trim the Top of My Tomato Plant?

I'm growing a tomato plant indoors, and the seed packet mentioned it would max out at 120 cm, but mine has surpassed that and is almost hitting the ceiling! I'm thinking about trimming the top off to keep it from growing taller and maybe even propagating that top part. It's got quite a few flower buds on it. If I do this, do you think the plant will just die or will it be fine?

If your tomato plant is stretching toward the ceiling, it might be a sign it's not getting enough light. Indoor plants often end up leggy. While cutting the top won't necessarily harm the plant—tomatoes are pretty resilient—it might affect how well those flowers turn into fruit. Just make sure you're addressing the light issue too!

Yeah, I totally get that. I tried putting mine close to a window with a grow light, but it still doesn’t compare to outdoor light. I think my plant will keep stretching towards the light until I figure out the lighting.
