What Home Improvements Do You Wish You Had Done Sooner?

I'm curious about the home improvement projects that others have completed which they feel made a significant difference in their daily lives. What are some upgrades or changes you wish you had tackled earlier? If possible, could you share the costs associated with those projects? I recently did two improvements that I'm really happy with: I installed data cables in every room for better Wi-Fi coverage and set up outdoor cameras, which cost around $2,000. I also added an EV charger, another $2,000, but my state helped cover that expense, and it's been a huge time-saver for me!

One small project that had a big impact was installing motion sensor lights in my garage and laundry room. Now, when I'm carrying stuff to or from the car, I don't have to struggle to find a light switch. It was only about $50 and has made a huge difference!

We did the same in our pantry and bathrooms—it’s such a game changer!

I thought most garage door openers had motion sensors already. I guess you just added motion sensor switches to your lamps, right?

I installed proper ventilation over my stove and in the bathrooms, and it's been a total game changer for my old house. The air is so much fresher, and we sleep better without all that humidity. It’s made a noticeable difference!

Yes! I did this for my parents and it made a huge improvement. Their old microwave range hood was awful—it just recycled air. Switching to a proper hood has really helped!

Same here! I’ve been using it for cooking and it’s fantastic. I’m planning to tackle the bathroom fan next, but I'm debating whether to hire someone for that.

After years of procrastinating, I finally built the deck I always dreamed of! Took me seven years to get around to it, but it's been worth the wait. Just love spending time out there!

Sounds like you might need to find a warmer place!

So true! My house came with a deck, and I love grilling and gardening on it. Just wish I could use it more than three months out of the year here in the Midwest!
