What improvements should I make before installing my new hardwood floor?

Hey everyone! The contractor just removed my carpet and baseboards, and now my plywood subfloor is exposed. Before they come back to install the hardwood floor, I'm wondering if there are any other home improvement tasks I should tackle during this brief window of opportunity. The subfloor is nailed down in most places, but I'm open to suggestions!

If you're feeling adventurous, you could even leave a fun message or some graffiti under the hardwood for future owners to find decades later. Just a quirky idea!

I like the idea but I’m not much of an artist myself. Still, it sounds like a fun concept!

Love that suggestion! How about some chalk outlines or spooky symbols? That could be a fun surprise!

You definitely want to screw down the subfloor to avoid any squeaking in the future. It's a simple step that makes a big difference!

Exactly! Use extra screws because it's your one shot to make sure it's solid.

Consider treating the subfloor for pests. It can really help cut down on insects getting inside for a few years, which is always a plus!
