I'm in the market for a bench-mounted vise because I'm tired of struggling without one. If you could recommend just one vise, which would it be?

You definitely want one with a quick release! I picked up the York type 52 1/2 from Fine Tools, and it's been my best purchase. The price has gone up since I got mine, but it's worth every penny. Really love using it!

How tricky was it to install? I've been eyeing quick-release vises for a bit, but I'm also considering holdfasts and bench dogs for easier setup.

If you're looking for something budget-friendly, the Wilton 79A is a solid choice. It's durable and works well for both metal and wood projects.

Just a heads up, if you’re feeling overwhelmed, consider some big C-clamps from Harbor Freight. They’re easy to use and won’t take up much space, plus there’s no risk of bumping into them constantly.

Also, what kind of bench setup do you have? I built mine with a 2x4 frame and a 4' x 6' top that doubles as an outfeed.
