What is this fastener and how do I remove it?

I have a fastener that looks like it's coming from a junction box with wires attached. Can anyone tell me what it's called and the best way to remove it? Here's a picture for reference: [link to image].

Honestly, if you're not sure what it is, it might be best to leave it alone. Just a heads-up, this is part of an electrical junction box, and the wires could potentially be live.

A flathead screwdriver and a hammer can work if you strike it at an angle. It's not the most technical solution, but it gets the job done!

Those are called conduit locknuts! Electricians often use a flathead screwdriver to loosen them. There's also a special tool designed just for that if you're looking for something more specific.
