I'm really excited to kick off some garden projects with my new Lumberjack tenon cutter! However, I'm confused about which drill to use. The instructions specifically say not to use a cordless drill, but they mention the Bosch Profactor 18v 1/2 drill as a recommendation. Can I really use a cordless drill? What about my brushless 1/2 DeWalt drill? Also, I'm not particularly strong, so I'd appreciate any safety tips!

From my experience with tenon cutters, you'll definitely need a drill that packs some power and operates at low speed. I’ve used a mud mixing drill from Harbor Freight, and while it’s not the best, it managed to handle cutting pretty well. I’d suggest investing in a corded drill—much better for tough jobs and safer than risking your cordless drill. Good luck with your projects!
Thanks! I’m really leaning towards a corded drill now. Quick question: how do you actually know if you're overworking a cordless drill? I’ve noticed it getting hot and a bit smoky in the past. Should I let it cool down every so often?
