I've been struggling to successfully grow rosemary. At my old house, it thrived in sandy soil, but now I'm not having much luck. I'm located in south Florida and am considering using bagged soil. Should I mix it with sand, perhaps a 50/50 ratio, or is there something better?

You definitely need soil that drains well for rosemary! It doesn't like being waterlogged. Look for a potting mix that’s labeled for cactus or succulents – that usually works well. Alternatively, mixing sand with perlite could be a good option too, and it might be cheaper than buying specialized mixes.
For rosemary, I’ve had good luck using regular compost mixed with sand. If you’re using a container, putting a layer of gravel at the bottom helps with drainage. Just make sure it never sits in water!
I personally use Miracle-Gro potting mix and I only water when the soil feels dry. I've had a potted rosemary that’s now four years old thriving this way! Last year, I also added bubble wrap around the pot for extra insulation and it seems to love it.

That's a great idea! I'll have to try the gravel trick too.
