What Kind of Succulent Am I Growing?

Hi everyone! I recently bought a succulent from Home Depot but didn't get a name with it. I've never cared for one before, so this is all new to me. I promptly transferred it into a cactus mix, and within just a week, it has doubled in size and even sprouted this little shoot! I'm curious about what type of succulent it is, what this new shoot means, and if I should try cutting it for propagation. I live in Phoenix where it's already over 100°F, but it seems to thrive in the sun. Right now, it's on my east-facing windowsill getting about 5 hours of filtered light. Any tips to keep this plant happy and thriving would be greatly appreciated!

It looks like you're on the right track with your care! For identifying your succulent, you might want to check out a list of common succulents online. As for that little shoot, it could be a flower shoot, which is always exciting. If it starts to grow more, you can try propagating it, but usually, it's best to let it grow a bit bigger before taking any cuttings. Just keep giving it that bright, filtered light and watch it flourish!

Glad to hear your succulent is doing well! That shoot you're seeing could be its way of trying to flower, which is a good sign. Just keep an eye on it, and if it grows a bit, you can eventually propagate it by cutting. Make sure to let the cut dry out a little before planting it in soil. And definitely keep it inside; the heat can be really harsh outside!
