What kind of water pump can lift water 100 feet for emergencies?

I'm looking for a reliable water pump that can lift water from my basement or storage tank up to 100 feet, preferably for emergency situations. The actual volume of water isn't a big concern for me. I'd ideally like to find a pump that operates on lower voltage, either 12 or 24 volts, but I'm also open to using a generator if I need a 110-volt option.

Before you dive into buying, think about the flow rate you actually need. If this is for fire suppression, that could change your requirements a lot. It's worth considering since you might need it during a power outage.

Consider getting a submersible well pump! There are 24V models that can handle around 300 feet of head. Just be aware, they can be pretty pricey, over $1k easily.

You won't be able to suck water that high, but you can push it up! Make sure your pump is close to the water source so the suction line is short—this helps a lot. You really need a good pump designed for that lift distance!

Totally agree! Even powerful pumps struggle after about 20 feet of height. It's all about keeping the suction side as short as possible.
