What Liquid Can I Use for a Costume Syringe?

I'm working on a Halloween costume where I want to be Dexter, and I'm trying to create a retractable syringe. I'm interested in what kind of 'disappearing liquid' people typically use in those toy doll bottles. If anyone knows what it's made from or if there's a household item I could use as a substitute, I'd really appreciate the tips!

You could go with something like fake blood or even corn syrup mixed with food coloring for a realistic effect. If you're aiming for that dramatic Dexter vibe, this mixture could work well!

Just a heads up, the liquid itself isn’t what makes it disappear; it’s the design of the bottle! But if you’re looking for something to mimic that disappearing effect, you might try mixing corn syrup with some red food coloring for that blood look.
