What M12 Battery Size Should I Choose for My Impact Tool?

I'm about to buy an M12 Surge Impact and I mainly plan to use it for removing and installing machine screws. I know it's a bit over the top for this job, but I want the best performance I can get. I'm looking for a compact battery, ideally a max of 3.0Ah. I've seen mixed opinions about the specifications of the 3.0Ah battery. Most of my work will be with low torque (around 12Nm), so I'd prefer battery life over power. I also want it as light as possible, but it seems like the 2.0Ah and 3.0Ah batteries are similar in size. Occasionally, I might need it for undoing bolts at 54Nm; can a 3.0Ah handle that, or should I consider getting a 4.0Ah or 6.0Ah for that?

Totally get wanting to keep things light! If you're in Europe and the 2.5Ah isn’t available, you might want to go for the kit with two 2.0Ah batteries. They are decent for light work, but if you can stretch your budget a bit, the 3.0Ah pack could be a better investment, especially for those rare times you need to tackle that 54Nm bolt. It might be worth the extra €50 for the added power in those cases.

I agree! The 3.0Ah might be slightly bulkier, but it's going to keep you covered for those occasional heavier tasks without sacrificing too much portability.

If you're mainly doing low torque work, the 2.5Ah High Output (HO) battery would be your best bet for compactness and efficiency. However, the Surge performs really well with the 5.0Ah HO battery; it’s great for weight distribution since it can be a bit top-heavy. If you're okay with the extra weight, the 5.0Ah gives you unbeatable battery life.
