Hey everyone! I'm curious about building my very own skateboard quarterpipe ramp, since buying one is way out of my budget. Does anyone know what materials I should gather to get started? Any specific tips or tricks would also be super helpful!

You'll want to grab some wood and screws to start off. From my experience, making a half pipe involved using a lot of 2x4s and a couple sheets of plywood. You should cut the plywood to match your desired size and curve, then attach 2x4s along the edges to shape the incline. For the skating surface, using three layers of 1/4 inch plywood can help it flex into the right curve. Don't forget to set up a pocket for the coping with some iron pipes, and screw them down securely. Lastly, a heavy sheet of metal works great for sealing the bottom where the ramp meets the ground.

This is awesome advice! I'd stress the importance of countersinking your screw heads on the surface so they don’t ruin your wheels.
