Hey everyone! I'm working on an audio-video setup that requires a couple of power supplies for 5V and 12V components. The total load will be under 50W for 5V and can go up to 200W for 12V. To keep things tidy, I want two dedicated power supplies and I'm also planning to install a power conditioner and a UPS.
I know that PC power supplies can provide both 5V and 12V outputs, but I understand there's a minimum load requirement to prevent damage, plus I need to set up a circuit to power it on via the ATX connector pins.
If anybody has additional tips or warnings, I'd love to hear them! I'm also looking for recommendations on high-performance power supplies specifically for 5V and 12V loads, including options for SFX models to fit a slim design.
Another thing, I'd like to power laptops using USB C PD 3 from this setup to minimize noise issues. Any suggestions for reliable adapters that can convert the outputs from a modular PC PSU to USB C PD 3 would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

It sounds like you're setting up something awesome! I recommend looking at Coolgear’s USB PD chargers; they can accept inputs of around 12-24 volts and output up to 20V at 5A. You'll want to just be mindful of the power input and fuse ratings. Also, Meanwell’s RD50A is a good choice for 12V and adjustable 5V outputs, but note that its amperage is a bit limited.
