I'm trying to recreate the flavor of the sweet chili Doritos (the purple bag) and I was wondering what type of pepper would get me close to that taste. Any suggestions?

I feel like you might be overthinking this a bit! You could also experiment with combining different peppers to get that sweet and spicy kick. Maybe try blending a few types to see what matches up!

That’s a great idea! I’ll give that a shot and see what combos work best.

Honestly, the sweetness in sweet chili Doritos largely comes from sugar, but you might want to look at using jalapeños or Thai chilies. These peppers have a good balance of sweet and spicy that could mimic that flavor profile. It's more about the sauce than just the peppers, though!
