What Plants Can Help Keep Bees and Wasps Away?

I just moved into a new place with a beautiful yard, and I'm excited to start gardening! However, I have an allergy to stinging insects. I'm okay with bees, but wasps really make me uncomfortable. I'm looking for plant suggestions that can help keep wasps at bay, particularly near my sitting area. I've thought about planting some insect-repelling plants close to where I relax and possibly some that attract them further away in the yard. Would love to know if that's a good idea or just wishful thinking! Also, I really only want plant advice—no other types of suggestions, please; I have no interest in "dealing with" my fear through therapy or anything like that. Thanks!

I’ve heard that fake wasp nests can be super effective! Wasps are pretty territorial, so if they see a 'rival' nest, they might steer clear of your area. Just remember to hang them up early in the spring, before the wasps start setting up their homes. I tried it once, and it actually worked better than I expected!

That’s interesting! I had my doubts about the fake nests, but it seems like they can really help. I’ll definitely try this next season.

There's really no such thing as plants that repel insects per se. Instead, you might want to think about planting varieties that don't attract them, like herbs or greenery that doesn’t have flowers. Those tend to be less inviting to wasps. Just focus on having a clean space and they might not bother you as much!
