I'm trying to figure out what to plant in a north-facing driveway border that doesn't get a lot of sun, mostly because my car blocks it. There's a tree on one end and a mature cordyline on the other, with about 2 meters of space in between. I'd love to add some color, maybe a dwarf magnolia, but I'm not sure if that would work. Any suggestions for what I can plant here?

If you're looking for something that really thrives in shady spots, a hardy fuchsia could be a great option. It does really well in those conditions.
A dwarf magnolia should do well as long as it’s not in deep shade. For that space, consider planting some shrubs like hydrangea, daphne, or camellia if your soil is acidic. You can also add ferns, hellebores, or hostas for some lush greenery. Just watch out if it’s too dark, as that limits your options a bit!
