I have a small back garden and I'm looking to maximize my space. However, a third of the garden is almost completely shaded because of two sycamore trees, and the soil there tends to be very dry. I'm considering planting sweet woodruff and lily of the valley. Has anyone had success growing anything in such dry shade?

Under my two sycamores, I've had great luck with Japanese anemones. They’ve really flourished, though it took some time to get them manageable. It might be worth a shot for your garden!
Honestly, it’s tough to grow much under sycamores—most plants struggle due to the dryness. You might also want to consider some ground cover plants that tolerate shade, but you’ll have to keep experimenting to find what works!
