I'm looking for recommendations on a router and table combo for woodworking. I currently have a Dewalt router but need to set it up on a table. As someone who's at an entry-intermediate level in woodworking, any guidance you can offer would be greatly appreciated! If budget isn’t a problem, you can’t go wrong with the JessEm table and lift. Also, the Next Wave CNC router table is really high-end but pricey at over $2,000. They get the job done exceptionally well!
The Shark RS1000 paired with either a laminated MDF or phenolic top is solid. It works with any 3.5" router motor, and I personally use a Milwaukee Bodygrip, which I love for its versatility. The key to accuracy isn’t fancy gear but just having a flat tabletop and a fixed base router. If you have a plunge router, those can work too; just look for height adjustment knobs if they’re not already built-in.
Consider the Kreg benchtop table if you're tight on space—it's a great compact option. If you're willing to spend a bit more, adding a Kreg router lift makes a world of difference. Just keep in mind that for larger setups, brands like Rockler and JessEm offer nice options with dust shrouds, which can really help manage dust. If I had the cash, I'd definitely grab the JessEm Ultimate and fit it with a dust shroud!
