My wife and I are super excited as we're closing on our first home together on April 15th! We're eager to dive into home projects and settling in, but I want to hear from experienced homeowners about any advice or insights you wish you'd had when you bought your first place.

Make sure you check out the neighborhood at different times, not just during open houses. Drive by randomly on weekdays and weekends to really gauge the traffic and noise levels. You don’t want surprises once you move in!

Great tip! Luckily, our house is in a quiet spot, far from the busy roads—very happy with the location!

Always get thorough inspections! This includes the home, roof, and sewer/septic systems. You might want to specify that they use a scope. Plan to live in your home for a while before starting any big renovations—paint and floor updates are good to do before moving in though. Also, change the locks, check security systems, and avoid getting home warranties; better to have a repair fund saved up instead!
