I recently spotted a carpenter bee entering the soffit of my roof, which really freaked me out. A handyman from the neighborhood helped seal the gap, but I've noticed a bee still hovering around my house after work. Should I think about getting an exterminator involved?

Honestly, if you've only seen one bee, you might not need to panic. It usually takes a bunch of them over several years to cause serious damage to your house. Just keep an eye on it for now!
It sounds like you're mainly worried about damage to your house, right? Carpenter bees can be a bit tricky since they return to the same spot. One tip I heard is to hang some grey plastic bags near the area—the idea is that they might think it's a wasp nest, which can deter them. It's worked for me before!
There are also some homemade traps you can try, like a block of wood with a jar attached. You can usually find those at flea markets or online marketplaces. That said, if you feel like it's a big deal, calling an exterminator might still be a good idea to be safe.

Thanks for the suggestions! I might give the traps a try while keeping an eye out.
