I need some quick advice! A couple of weeks ago, I paid a deposit for my roof to be done, but I haven't been updated on the schedule. This morning, the roofing team called, trying to fit in my garage roof, which is a smaller project. I just spent the weekend refinishing my cabinets and had them drying in the garage when they showed up. I asked them to bring tarps since rain was forecasted, but when they started, they stripped off everything from the roof and left it exposed. Of course, it started pouring rain, and while I rushed to save my stuff, they just fled the scene without covering the roof. Now I'm furious and not sure how to move forward. The project manager offered to cut some money off, maybe around $250-500, and replace some wet drywall, but this feels like negligence. Has anyone had a similar experience? Should I tell them to stop working altogether? This is supposed to be a one-day job, and they'll be gone by the end of the day.

Make sure you document everything that got damaged by the rain—take lots of pictures! You'll want to file a claim with their insurance for the repairs needed. It’s the best way to make sure you’re compensated for their negligence.
Definitely file an insurance claim with them. It's worth pursuing, even if the damage doesn't seem huge money-wise. It can mean more to you especially after all the hard work you've put into your kitchen.

Absolutely! Even if it’s just a garage, it’s important to stand your ground. Did you think about telling them to stop the job since you’re not comfortable? That might be a good call!
