What Should I Do About My Leggy Monstera?

Hey everyone! I'm a bit worried about my monstera plant that I've had for about 2 years now. It was doing great at first, but recently, it seems to have stopped growing and is starting to look quite leggy, especially on the bottom. I did repot it last spring, but I haven't noticed any new growth since then. It gets a good amount of bright light, but I'm wondering if I'm being too impatient or if I need to make some changes. Should I consider repotting again, cutting it back and propagating, or maybe getting a moss pole? I also haven't fertilized since it's winter. Any tips would be super helpful! Thanks!

It sounds like your monstera might be leggy due to not getting enough light or the right kind of light. Plants like monsteras often stretch for more light when they’re not getting what they need. Have you tried moving it to a spot with more direct sunlight or adding a grow light? That could help encourage it to fill out more!

Definitely agree with checking the light! I had a similar issue where mine got so leggy. Once I moved it to a brighter spot, it started thriving again.

Regarding your options, it might be worth trying the moss pole idea! Monsteras naturally climb, so giving it something to latch onto can help it grow more robustly. You could also trim back some of the leggy parts to encourage new growth in the nodes. And don't forget to fertilize when the growing season comes back around!

Yeah, a moss pole can work wonders! My monstera went from sad to full of life once I added one. Just make sure you keep it moist to encourage the roots to cling to it!
