Hey everyone! I need some help with my shower setup. I recently tried to install a new handheld shower sprayer, but when I went to replace the old hose, the threads broke off and are stuck in the wall component (not sure what to call it). I've attached some pictures to help you see the issue:
- Picture 1 shows the broken threads.
- Picture 2 shows where they are stuck in the connecting part.
- Picture 3 shows how the shower hose connects.
- Picture 4 is how the connection should look like, but right now, the new cable just slips out whenever I turn on the shower.
- Picture 5 is a full view of my shower setup.
Now, water is leaking from both the shower head and the pipe meant for the handheld sprayer. I'm considering a few options:
1. Try to remove the broken threads myself.
2. Just take out the entire handheld sprayer and stick with the regular shower head.
3. Find something that can temporarily block off the water flow from the handheld sprayer.
I live in a condo and I'm really worried about the potential for leaks to the floors below. If anyone has experience with this, what would be the easiest and cheapest solution? Thanks!

For those broken threads, definitely grab a square broken bolt extractor, they work well! Just tap it in a bit to get a grip and then twist both ways to loosen it. Go back and forth while removing—just be patient with it!
Hey there! It sounds like you’re dealing with a tricky situation. Honestly, if you're not super comfortable with plumbing, replacing the fixture might be the best route, even though it can be a bit tedious. If you're feeling adventurous, a broken bolt extractor would be a great tool to try for getting those threads out. Just make sure to work carefully to avoid damaging the component further!
What is the actual name for that wall fixture? I’ve been wondering!

I just ordered one! Is it similar to this?
