Hey everyone! I'm in the process of adding wall insulation to my garage, but I've hit a snag with a 1-inch gas pipe that sticks out past the studs and runs along the wall toward my water heater. I'm wondering if I should just attach some 2-inch wood strips to essentially create new studs that will clear the pipe, or if it's a better idea to hire a plumber to relocate or adjust the pipe. Any advice or suggestions would be really helpful! Also, I've included a link to some pictures for reference: https://imgur.com/gallery/BL4bT2n.

You might consider just building your wall around the pipe. It’s not too complicated to frame around it—just make sure your insulation has proper clearance. You could also use those 2-inch wood strips to extend the studs. Unless the pipe is affecting your overall structure, it sounds like an easy fix!
If you're not comfortable doing this yourself, it might be worth it to hire a plumber. They can check if it’s safe to move the pipe without causing issues. Always better to be safe with gas lines!
Good point! Might be worth the investment for peace of mind.
Yeah, framing around it could definitely save you some hassle! Just make sure everything is secure after.
