I'm about to install Rockwool R23 in the walls above my garage, which have been making the room feel uncomfortable in hot and cold weather. The drywall has been taken down, and I'm considering adding spray foam to cover any seams or visible nail holes since the walls are open. I'm also unsure if I should use a vapor membrane between the Rockwool and the drywall—what's the best approach? Any other tips would be appreciated! Spraying foam in the seams and any exposed nail holes is a smart move! It’ll help with air sealing. I also recommend taking some photos of the walls for future reference; it’ll save you a headache later when you need to know what’s behind the drywall. I really regretted not doing that last time!
This is a great time to think about any electrical work you might need! If you're planning to move or add any outlets, now's the perfect moment to do that. Don’t forget about low voltage stuff like Cat6 or speaker wires—much easier to add with the walls open.
Definitely! Don't miss this chance to set everything up before sealing the walls.
Did you have any insulation in those 2x6 bays before? Just curious if you're starting from scratch or updating what was there.
Consider adding plates to the studs over the electrical runs. This will help prevent any accidental drilling into wires down the line—it’s a good safety measure!

Good idea! Just make sure the foam doesn’t push against the nails—it could compromise the strength of your siding later on.
