I recently cut some creosote-treated poles without realizing what they were. Now, some areas of my skin feel hot. How bad is this and what should I do?

I had a similar experience once. The skin can get really irritated and might even peel, but usually, it's not permanent. Try to keep the area clean and watch for any signs of an allergic reaction. Worst case, you'll have to see a doc, but most of the time, you'll be okay!

Just to add on, if you feel any worse or the irritation spreads, definitely consult a doctor. I've dealt with creosote before, and while it's nasty, not a life-threatening situation unless you've had a significant amount. Take care!

Good point! It's important to monitor your symptoms.

Hey there! First off, don't panic. Creosote can definitely react with sunlight and cause burns if it gets on your skin. The heat you're feeling might be a sign of irritation. I'd recommend washing the affected areas thoroughly with soap and water as soon as you can. If things get worse or the pain doesn't go away, definitely swing by a doctor to get it checked out. It's better to be safe!

For sure! And remember, keeping it out of the sunlight can help reduce irritation.
